A physical edition including all three games will be made available immediately. The remastered Yakuza 4 will be coming to the PlayStation Store on October 29, and the remastered Yakuza 5 is scheduled to arrive on February 11. 3-5 is great for nostalgia but it might be a hard sell for new players to the series. Yakuza 3 is available for download on PS4 today, but the rest of the collection will follow a staggered release model. Both kenzan and ishin were amazing.Īlso agreed it's best to start and go in order. Sad that two of the best in the series stayed in Japan. But, that is only available on PS3, unless they eventually add that game to the new version of PlayStation Plus. There is a zombie game spinoff that did make it to America with some of it's content censored and removed, which replaces the beat 'em up combat style with third person shooting. There are also a bunch of spinoff games, most of which that never came to the USA, that are more fan service than anything, and can be skipped (this isn't a Kingdom Hearts situation where all lore is important). Seven is a whole new collection of characters, and really has nothing to do with Zero through Six. And, Six is kind of its own thing, with a first person mode, and fully destructible store interiors. Going back to Three, Four, and Five will be a little rough, as they are literally just the PS3 games with slightly updated graphics. Or, you can start at Kiwami One and Kiwami Two which are full remakes of the first two games using the same engine and fighting system that Zero uses. You can play Yakuza Zero or not as that is totally a stand alone game set in the 1980s and not really related to anything else in the franchise. If you start at the third one, you are going to be pretty lost. They really do have plot lines and characters that continue from game to game. It's not like a Star Wars situation where they started with the third game and went backwards. These games really need to be played in order.
